Rogue One and Solo have opened the floodgates for many more Star Wars spin-off movies.
Here are 12 spin-offs we might see down the line…
ThisStar Warsarticle contains spoilers.
Dont forgetthe new trilogyRian Johnson is developing as well asthe series of filmsfromGame of Thronescreators David Benioff and D.B.
In terms of the standalone movies, there are plenty of possibilities.
Vader is an absolute force of nature in his briefRogue Oneappearance.
And whats up with his assistant Vanee?
(There are hints of this in theAftermathbooks, actually!)
Its even teased inStar Wars Rebelsthat Mustafar is the place where Jedi go to die.
That concept alone begs for a Darth Vader movie.
Perhaps one that takes place during the Jedi Purge between both trilogies?
That may be true.
Yet, Id urge you to read his recent Marvel comic before making up your mind about the character.
The Disney era ofStar Warshas done right by Vader thus far.
Instead, the Han Solo movie is standalone number two.
Demand is still pretty high for a Boba Fett flick, though.
Theres just something about Fett that has inspired generations of fans to create myths and legends around the character.
All that remains to be seen is the bounty hunters own space western on the big screen.
What shape could the Boba Fett movie take?
Id love to watch a movie in which Boba Fett is a one-manMagnificant Seven.
In the interest of building itsStar Warsshared universe further, Lucasfilm almost certainly has plans for a Lando spinoff.
In fact, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has said thatshed like to make onedown the road.
Lando has most recently made appearances in theRebelsanimated series and in his own Marvel comic.
The latter is one of the bestStar Warslimited series the House of Ideas has put out to date.
Obi-Wan
The Obi-Wan spin-off movieis reportedly happening.
McGregor most recently lent his Obi-Wan voice to the weird flashback scene inThe Force Awakens.
He even had a rematch with Darth Maul in the latter!
Id say its only a matter of time before Lucasfilm officially announces the Obi-Wan standalone.
That is, unless they just want to CG-vive Sir Alec Guinness instead… Kidding!
Yoda
Admittedly, I listed the movies I think have the best chance of being made first.
Now were stepping into the Unknown Regions, the realm of the less likely.
What are you even talking about?
And youre totally right.
So the only option would be doing a young Yoda movie, which I also think is a mistake.
In fact, it might have taken something away from him.
His immeasurable Force abilities are what gave the Jedi Master his own unique place within the lore.
But Im including him on the list because, well, Lucasfilm is nothing if not daring.
Of course, too much of a good thing might be a bad thing.
We even consider her to beone of the bestStar Warscharactersof the last decade or so.
Because she exemplifies all of the best qualities of the Jedi bravery, a kind heart, and wisdom.
Ahsoka stepped away from the Order and paved her own way through a changed galaxy.
Or maybe it could be another animated film.
Whos to say that all of theStar Wars Storymovies have to be live-action?
This rogue space archaeologist is the Indiana Jones ofStar Wars(I know how that might be confusing).
Did I mention that she travels with C-3PO and R2-D2s psychotic dopplegangers?
If thats not badass, I dont know what is.
Is theDoctor Aphracomic story testing the waters for a more high profile project starring this badass archaeologist?
Rogue Squadron
Rogue Ones X-wing sequences alone were reason enough to love the first Star Wars Story.
For as much asStar Warsis about the Jedi, theres much to be said about the pilots.
Why not a movie about a young pilot on his first mission for the Rebellion…or the Empire?
In fact, the Clone Wars themselves are probably the most entertaining thing about that trilogy.
the Iraq War and the War on Terror but thats an article for another time.)
Cassian Andors actions under the chain of command specifically come to mind.
(Seriously, the Jedi areawful peacekeepers.)
Lucasfilm would do well to learn from their example and explore truly uncharted territory.
I, for one, would love to see something similarly Kubrick-inspired on the big screen.
