As Exists arrives on disc, we take a look… After all, there are all kinds of dangerous animals out there.
Why not a huge, furry, stinky humanoid with giant feet?
So maybe we should just stick to watching movies about them.
Luckily, there are quite a few of those.
Lets take a look back at the history of Bigfoot movies…
So maybe its not a surprise that the first known yeti movie comes from that decade, too.
Its not very well known, though, and thats because no-one liked it.
But this is definitely noSunset Boulevard.
Also, this seems like a good time to talk about the yeti/Bigfoot thing.
but its one that well return to in later Bigfoot movies.
For a while, Bigfoot movies fell out of fashion.
That filmmaker was Charles B.
Pierce, who would go on to directThe Town That Dreaded Sundownin 1976.
In the same year, one movie did something pretty weird with the Bigfoot legend.
InHorror Express, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing play rival scientists on board the Trans-Siberian Express.
Naturally, since this is a horror movie, the creature escapes and wreaks havoc.
And its capable of resurrecting the dead and stealing peoples memories.
So yeah, this isnt your average yeti movie, but its worth a look anyway.
Skipping ahead a few years brings us toNight Of The Demonin 1980.
Nope, not a remake of the Jacques Tourneur movie, mores the pity.
Once again the movie begins with a professor setting out to prove the existence of Bigfoot.
Its not a pleasant film.
At this point in Bigfoot cinema, the creature was very much a baddie.
No longer an intimidating monster, Bigfoot had been reimagined as a kind of fuzzy babysitter.
Even Lance Henrikson doesnt stand a chance against this version of the Bigfoot.
Sorry for telling you it exists.

Lets fast forward in time to, well, now.
The balance ultimately tips in favour of scary, but then maybe thats as it should be.
