Alien: Romulus director Fede Alvarez has an answer for when his new sequel takes place on the timeline.
But exactly how long after the Nostromo disaster does this movie take place?
Its a question detail-hungry fans have wanted answered from the mysterious project for months.
At last, Alvarez has the answer, which he shared during a trailer breakdown withTotal Film.
Technology in the world ofAliencan change vastly, but I think its not dependent on time.
Its dependent on place.
So the characters of this movie and the world are very blue-collar.
The technology is still very low-tech and analog.
And, look, Im a kid from the 80s.
Any monitor with some VHS tracking issues puts a lot of joy in my heart.
Alvarez also took some time to detail the movies space station setting.
Called Renaissance Station, Alvarez explains that the research station is made of two big models that are connected.
One is Remus, the other one is Romulus.
And thats as much as I can tell you.
[Alien: Romulus] is a film about siblinghood.
A lot of the character stories are related to siblinghood.
At the core of it, thats what the movie is.
Its my favorite kind of horror when all you have to do is survive it.
So for people who like that, like me, they will definitely find a good story.
Sounds like a blast, were in!
Alien: Romulus opens in theaters on Aug. 16.
