Caped Crusaders setting underscores its noir and hardboiled tales.

The timeline adds specificity to the series that distinguishes it from other Batman retellings.

That said, as a cartoon show,Caped Crusadercant go all the way into the setting and genre.

At this point, one might notice that a certain character hasnt come up in this review.

Part of the problem stems from Hamish Linklaters vocal performance.

At his best, Linklater echoes the work of Kevin Conroy inTAS.

His Batman has a distinctive, but not ridiculous, growl and his Bruce Wayne is peppy and upbeat.

Caped Crusaderdoesnt have much of an arc for Batman.

Is this a problem?

The conflicts within Barbara Gordon and Harvey Dent provide more than enough drama to keep things interesting.

With only 10 episodes, its hard to say ifCaped Crusaderwill become a classic likeBatman: The Animated Series.
