In her own way, Emma Stone looks atThe Favouriteas a love story.
Yet a pseudo-romance built on gallows humor it remains.
I would consider it a love story of sorts, Stone says with the hint of a wry smile.
The Oscar winning performer is referring specifically to her own character, Abigail Hill.
I dont know if Id consider Abigaila heroine, Stone laughs.
Shes using any means necessary to survive.
I think shes a heroine unto herself for sure, but in the grander context, I dont know.
Shes no Joan of Arc.
Near the end, some pretty irredeemable things, I think, start to occur.
But youre right, shes a survivor.
Says Stone, Its pretty rare to find a film that has three female roles that are this sensational…
So its not like its a popularity contest of being the favorite.
Its like the survival of millions depends on that.
[But] I knew nothing about Queen Anne before making this.
The actor, of course, was not the exception.
I was like, You must have learned about her in school.
And no one remembered learning about Queen Anne.
