And then all mayhem ensues so its all good.
Have you seen the whole film?
I think hes a terrific filmmaker.
What stood out to you when they sent you the script for this one?
The fact that theyve broadened the scope a bit.
I like the fact that they didnt broaden the character, in that you knew more about him.
I like the fact that he continued, literally, it was a carry-on from the first one.
It wasnt like, two years later.
But I liked that they also broadened it out, went to Italy.
I think thats great.
Theres a lot more world-building going on and more to do with the Continental.
Absolutely, the Continental.
Maybe theyll explain it all if they do another one.
You still dont know the relationship.
All you know is that Winston is very fond of John Wick.
Do you make up your own background for Winston in your head?
Yeah, I make up my own and it varies according to how you see it.
Im not going to tell you what it is, but yeah.
I remember it because we spent most of the time going to the World Cup.
Franco and I used to go down there all the time with another Italian producer called Fernando Ghia.
When soccer wasnt so much a known thing.
Youve done a lot of different genres of film.
Depends what kind of film this is.
This is not necessarily a crime movie.
This is a personal revenge movie with a lot of the elements of classic Korean and Hong Kong movies.
Thats where I think Chad was the perfect guy to do it.
Not too much dialogue.
Fill it with interesting characters.
And you have a guy who the audience roots for because his wifes dead and his dogs been killed.
Its the perfect set up.
No matter what it is.
Lets talk a bit aboutAmerican Gods.
If Winston in this movie is sort of a god-like figure, Mr. Wednesday inAmerican Godsis the real thing.
Hes a god of gods.
Thats why the actual day, Wednesday, is named after him.
Its a broad panorama.
The gods and the other characters all take their time about going somewhere.
Sure enough, I did dialogue looping the other day for the first four episodes and it looked terrific.
Whats the tone of the show?
The tone is different.
It was difficult to get because again its like reality but its not really reality.
Its a little pushed, likeJohn Wickbut even more so in this.
I will wait till I see all the bells and whistles on it but I look forward to it.
John Wick: Chapter 2is out in theaters this Friday (February 10).
