Interstellar is the Closest Thing to Christopher Nolan’s Superman You’ll Ever See

WhileChristopher Nolandeparted the DC Extended Universe after lending his name toMan of Steel, his memory smolders on.

At the heart ofInterstellaris the race to escape a dying planet.

A fairly obvious Krypton analogy, I grant you.

Elements of the latter found their way into the film of the same name.

A film, by the way, that Christopher Nolan shares story credit on.

Flash Gordons influence on Krypton was a little more practical, as well.

But DonnersKrypton, or really production designer John Barrys Krypton, was something else.

Nolans movie, of course, reverses the dynamic somewhat.

And then theres the matter of whether its Cooper or Amelia who fulfills the Kal-El role.

If thats not a manifestation of our own superhuman potential, I dont know what is.

That same symbolism was once again foregrounded in the only Superman movie to bear Christopher Nolans name.
