Oscar-nominated Jennifer Lawrence is set for more acclaim as the lead in The Hunger Games.
Heres what she had to say about the film and her career so far…
Adapting a hit novel into an equally praiseworthy film is no easy task.
Have you noticed any changes since the nomination?
I wasnt really out, like, at the clubs in Hollywood, all Woooo, nominee!

It was your mum who suggested you readThe Hunger Gamesin the first place, right?
She gave me her books.
So this isnt something she normally does you dont normally discuss your roles with her?
I dont think Ive ever been like mom, should I take this role?
Shes just the average mom.
I mean, that was scary.
Was there a moment when you thought, actually, you know what, Im comfortable with this?
I just didnt want to pass on it just because Im scared.
How much pressure is there on you, being part of something like this?
He seems very chilled.
He is very chilled.
Hes one of the only famous people who can actually make you relax hanging out with them.
But then theres Woody Harrelson in there as well… Tell us about the physical training you did for the film.
Yeah, it was lots of running because Katniss never walks anywhere.
And free-running, track, hand-to-hand combat, climbing, archery… and yoga.
Did they all come easily to you?
Was there any competition between you, Josh and Liam?
No, theres no competition.
I can shoot a bow and arrow.
Plus, I kicked him in the temple one time and gave him a concussion.
By accident, but its still like, yeah, I did that.
[laughs] I can do that.
Which was the more physical shoot, this orX-Men?
X-Menwas more difficult, because it was more gym work.
So that was all kind of a strange transition.
Did you really injure your spleen while training?
[Laughs] No.
So lets clear this up.
But obviously it was unbelievably sore, and I had this trainer who is the biggest hypochondriac ever.
Like I would go into the other room to cough around him.
But what was written was Jennifer Lawrence damages her spleen onHunger Gamesshoot.
So who knows whats gonna come out next.
At least it didnt damage the baby… Im kidding!
I just wanted to start a whole new rumour.
After your Oscar nomination, did you find that you got sent a certain pop in of role?
Ive always felt that way.
But that wasnt like, I got nominated for an Oscar, Im gonna replace Renee Zelweger.
So you didnt get a lot ofWinters Boneclone scripts?
Yeah, I think I was definitely the go-to girl for wilderness at that time.
Dark, depressing, wilderness, squirrels… Im your girl.
An important part of theHunger Gamesis Katnisss Capitol makeover did you get any input into any of those costumes?
The costume womans name is Judianna Makovsky, and shes an absolute genius.
The costumes are remarkable.
Going back to costumes, people are excited about the girl on fire scene what was that like?
Is there real fire, or is it CG?
No, Im really set on fire.
[laughs] No, Im not.
I just want to start all sorts of rumours.
The book doesnt shy away from constant violence; will the movie be very violent too?
If you take the violence out of the movie you take the entire heart out of it.
But I think having the boundaries of the PG-13 actually made the violence better because its more realistic.
Violence in real life is over so fast.
Fights last a matter of seconds.
Somebody breaks your neck, you fall, youre dead.
You get shot with an arrow, youre hit, youre dead.
But no, we didnt want to downplay the violence.
If you downplay the violence, youre downplaying the entire theme and heart of the film.
How did you feel when you first read the books?
Did that mean that, going into the movie, you felt you had a responsibility to the readers?
When I read the books I loved them.
Were using peoples tragedy for entertainment, and the more tragic, the more ratings.
And in that sense I loved them and thought that they were powerful and important.
But when I got on set, we were making a movie.
And youre gonna make a bad movie if you just take whats in the book and film it.
We had to part ourselves from it and know that we were on set creating a film.
Having Suzanne Collins as one of the screenwriters gives it that seal of approval, doesnt it?
And the movie was made by fans.
So the violence hasnt been watered down, and neither has the politics?
None of it has been watered down.
I was very happy.
And I am a big fan.
Ive never been a big internet person in the first place.
Im gonna move, and then Im gonna stop.
Did you have a favourite character when you read the book?
Was it Katniss, or was there another role you wouldve liked to play?
She was funny, she was kind of scary; she was perfect.
So, Effie, but only if Im supposed to not say Katniss.
But I think anybody reading the book would rather be Katniss.
Youve mentioned Bridget Jones, do you have any other ideal roles in mind?
No, I dont think anybody should have to be killed!
When you read the books, were you Team Peeta or Team Gale?
I get asked that all the time!
I went back and forth, just like everybody else.
I have to do press with both of them, so its lose-lose for me to answer that question.
Jennifer Lawrence, thank you very much.
