Award-winning writer Mark Waid takes the DC Universe to the brink of destruction in Absolute Power.

To make matters worse, theJustice Leaguehas disbanded, leaving Earth without its greatest heroes.

I really expectedAbsolute Powerto be a Superman,Batman,Wonder Womanstory, Waid admits toDen of Geek.

Absolute Power

In short, Waid knows the history of DC Comics better than almost anyone.

And that makes him the perfect person to write the story of the DCUs downfall.

And I really resisted that, Waid explains.

The plot raises questions about how people with power do real good in the world.

They adhere to a childs idea of morality, and like all children, they occasionally have tantrums.

I think that morality is the DNA in all superheroes.

They are built to demonstrate what the right thing to do is, Waid explains.

I dont know a better way of doing it.

I still believe in Superman [and] Batman.

I still believe in that element of fantasy.

Absolute Power #1 is out now.
