There was no effort to his life.

Rhys Darby in Our Flag Means Death

He was a wealthy landowner, forced to marry someone he didnt really love, he says.

Hes just deeply unhappy, and reading stuff, and wishing he could be part of this adventure.

I think he wanted to feel something.

But he eventually became frenemies with Edward Blackbeard Teach.

Its just a complete chance meeting, he says about how they come together.

And amongst the two pirates, They start to connect, and begin a friendship.

And the experience was a joy for them both, he says.

Its like were kids again.

What are we doing?

Ill tell you what were doing: Were having a bloody laugh.

It is one of these weird synchronicity moments where things come together.

I did ask him, Have you listened toThe Cryptid Factor?

I look at it as a sign for sure because I have that paranormal mind.

Were still being drip-fed little information, but it feels like things have run a little dry.

Even when were looking at cryptid stories, there isnt much.

They did initiate the door and said, this is all real [but] the door hasnt shut.

you’re able to look through but youre only seeing what theyre revealing.

I dont think it has shut.

The dialogue has strengthened.

And while Rhys Darby still recordsThe Cryptid Factor, hes also hoping for further seasons ofOur Flag Means Death.

Its such great escapism …

I cant wait for people to see it, and see where else we can go with it.
