The Bounty Hunter Blu-ray review

From romcoms you expect there to be some kind of chemistry between the leads and preferably some laughs. Sadly, theres a distinct lack of laughs and zero chemistry on display here. From watching this I dont think its the fault of either of them. Jason Sudeikis Stewart character can essentially be boiled down to Ha ha ha. Theres some lecherous camera work that lingers on Aniston like its shot from the perspective of a teenage boy....

The Last Airbender review

Can Nickelodeon cartoon adaptation, The Last Airbender, mark a return to form for director M Night Shyamalan? Even so, the quality of Shyamalans earlier work shouldnt be forgotten. From his name-makingThe Sixth Sense,to the almost-as-good-but-not-quite follow-up,Unbreakable, Shyamalans initial movies showed genuine imagination. Or so I thought. Then there are the villains, who includeSlumdog Millionaires excellent Dev Patel, Cliff Curtis and Aasif Mandvi. Fluid, expressive and fast, his style and movement recalls a younger, thinner Sammo Hung....

The Stranger DVD review

Wrestling star Stone Cold Steve Austin stars in this straight-to-DVD actioner. But should you buy it, even on a whim? Luke finds out… One thing I should make clear up front: I brought this on myself. A Stone Cold Steve Austin straight-to-DVD film, just for me. I asked for it. And then I received it. No one twisted my arm. It wasnt even a dare. It just spoke to me on a number of levels....

TV couples that don’t make us puke

Nina offers proof that there are some romantic relationships on the telly that are worth rooting for… (Mulder and Scully held on as long they could.) The exceptions to romantic mediocrity on television range from the simple and understated to the tempestuous and deeply touching. Unresolved romantic tension is a dangerous route to take. Too overt, and the couple becomes obnoxious, but too subtle and characters intentions become unclear. Zoe and Wash:Firefly...

Cargo DVD review

Can you make an imaginative and emotionally involving sci-fi movie on a shoestring budget? It turns out the plans for humanity didnt go well, and Rhea isnt the utopia it seems. The authorities have made Rhea a success, but at the expense of human independence. Cargois a visually impressive film belying its low budget. Much of the Kassandra is submerged in darkness, adding to the atmosphere. Cargois a story of hope and dreams tainted by reality and failure....

The A-Team: Triple Action Pack DVD review

But have they stood the test of time? And he didnt even have to break out the crane kick. So, what should we read into this? ThatThe Karate Kidversion 2010 is a better film thanThe A-Team? Ive seen neither at the time of writing this, and mine will be a biased answer anyway. The prospect of watching a film about a twelve-year-old beating up other twelve-year-olds doesnt really appeal to me....

Chuck Norris Cannot Be Stopped book review

The mighty Chuck Norris surely deserves better than this… The only thing that gets between Chuck Norris and justice is an equal sign. Jesus can walk on water but Chuck Norris can swim through land. Before Leo Tolstoy met Chuck Norris, his book was called Peace. and sticking out your tongue. This always happens, and restores faith in human nature. This third book in the series is simply more of the same....

Crackdown 2 Xbox 360 review

Aaron hits the streets of Pacific City for one of the 360s most anticipated sequels, Crackdown 2… Okay, I admit it. Your main goal is to find various generators to power several special bombs that can destroy Freak nests. The problem is thatCrackdown2 only attempts to do exactly what the originalCrackdowndid, and little more. This isnt so muchCrackdown1.5, but more like 1.1.5. The amount of new content is sparse, at best, and the core gameplay is totally unchanged....

Revisiting Joel Schumacher’s Veronica Guerin

Versatile director Joel Schumacher followed up his thriller Phone Booth with the gritty biopic Veronica Guerin. But was it a creative stretch too far? Youd do the same. The top 10 zombie videogames

The forthcoming sequel is awaited with twitchy thumbed enthusiasm. I Made A Game With Zombies In It! Ghosts N Goblins (Arcade/numerous home systems) Dont let the cartoon-like graphics fool you. Capcoms 80s platform shooter is one of the most relentlessly difficult games on this list. Bearded knight Arthur sprints through graveyards, villages and caves to rescue his beloved, the adorably named Prin-Prin. Its NES port was apparently the systems biggest selling game....

Adam Sandler: The Best Of Saturday Night Live DVD review

But are there any laughs to be had? Out of the material here,Canteen Boyis one of the better sketches. Baldwin plays a scout master who makes a series of passes towards Canteen Boy. Its an interesting piece to have included, as this is without question the basis forThe WaterboysBobby Boucher. The best sketches are theOpera Manpieces. There are moments of horrendous cultural insensitivity, and sketches that play on base level cultural stereotypes for laughs....
