Toy Story 3 review

Im not entirely sure why I worried about Pixar. Because wherever it comes for you, this movie is utterly brilliant on so many levels. Some well known characters from the previous stories dont make it, Im sorry to say. These scenes represent my only regret of the movie, because theyre so wonderful, yet painfully short. Its both charming and yet totally memorising. The other engaging new character is Ken, as in Ken and Barbie....

10 reasons why 1984 was a great year for geek movies

While its hard to disagree with this, its my contention that the 84 vintage was even more refined. Take a sip of these… Too bad Cameron has forgotten that films dont need to be swimming in money to be successful. The lobby poster also features more exposition than the opening text crawl of aStar Warsmovie. Terror In The Aisles Few things in this world are geekier than a compilation. (Dont believe me?...

Red Dead Redemption Xbox 360 review

Red Dead Redemptionis set some fifty years ahead of the first game, in 1911. The graphics are absolutely top notch, and the soundtrack is easily one of gamings best. The game is set around parts of Texas, Mexico, and the Midwest. The game map is absolutely huge, and the differences between each state are hugely noticeable. In terms of scope, there just isnt a game like it. Rockstar has always been top of its game when it comes to storytelling, andRed Dead Redemptionis no exception....

The 10 best fictional bands in the movies

They may not be real, but they still know how to rock. We celebrate the ten best fictional bands in the movies… It involves groups of bored twenty-somethings wandering around talking early-90s sordid alienation. The scene is filmed on a Pixelvision camera which makes the music sound almost haunting. Ad content continues below 9. Instead we get a soulful rendition of Marvin GayesLets Get It On. If only we could convince Channel 4 to give it a DVD release....

Twilight Eclipse review

Ron popped in to see Twilight Eclipse over the weekend. Can it turn around his feelings towards the franchise? The people in the movie that arent Bella are also awful. Of course, theres complications. I mean, all they did was kill her boyfriend! Why is she so upset? Gee, I wonder! Those people are wrong. If it feels like Im spoilingEclipse, I probably am. However, you knew how this would end....

Transformers: War For Cybertron PS3 review

Can the latest videogame outing of Transformers stand, or does it fall? I mean, come on! Surely the Transformers are about as well suited to gaming as a Uruguayan linesman is to a Specsavers ad. Lets face it, who on the planet doesnt recognise the ubiquitous transforming sound? Was this another promise of theTransformersgame youve always wanted, or was it another Energon-fuelled turd? I shuddered to think. The game itself is a pretty by-the-numbers third person shooter title....

While theYoung Onesnever actually got to see the video nasty they bought (Have we got a video? Yes Neil we have got a bloody video), a lot of other people did. Others were based on the subject of cannibals Prisoner, Terror, Apocalypse, HolocaustandFerox. EIFF 2010 round-up: Huge and The Sentimental Engine Slayer reviews

Warren is a new stand-up comedian, who cant help but fail at his act. And unfortunately the film does the same. Which left the whole thing feeling like it had nothing special to offer. It perfectly concocted a mix between the serious and the humorous that worked brilliantly on both levels. So what can he do? Well, he can play guitar. It too is completely awful and really is just the turd icing on a shit cake....

Micmacs Blu-ray review

Micmacs is the latest film from the fantastical mind of director Jean-Pierre Jeunet. But can it recapture the magic of his earlier work? The widow slowly goes mad while the soldiers son is confined to an orphanage run by sadistic nuns. This leaves him with a bullet lodged so close to his brain that a doctor refuses to operate. Unknown to our loveable outcast, however, he is being watched by another homeless person of unique skill....
