Jim Jarmusch Collection Vol.1

Thing is, I was about to be greatly disappointed… This set collects Jim Jarmuschs first three films:Permanent Vacation,Stranger Than ParadiseandDown By Law. Whats really good about this film is nothing. It is a bad film. Its definitely one of the worst films Ive ever seen. And she is truly the saving grace of this film. When they do start their journey towards Cleveland, thats when the film really begins. Down By Lawfocuses on three characters in their seemingly separate lives....

The Den of Geek interview: Colin Bostock-Smith

Colin Bostock-Smith has penned umpteen television and radio comedies throughout his distinguished career. Here, he joins Den Of Geek for a talk about his work. Colin Bostock-Smith is one of Britains most prolific comedy writers. He spared some time with us to talk though his career. How did you get involved with writing for TV in the first place. The Den Of Geek Interview: Michael Winslow

He made funny noises in Police Academy. He scared us witless as the voice of Stripe in Gremlins. Heck, the man even turned up in Spaceballs. Well, at the time I wasnt calling it a talent. It was just things that used to get me in all kind of mischief and situations. In the restaurant, talking food is not a good idea! Was this at school that it got you into trouble?...

Outpost review

Another low budget British horror film. And Craig hates himself for not liking it… Its technically decent enough considering its budget and Im sure that the cast and crew had the best intentions. I just genuinely wish I had anything good at all to say about it. The whole soldiers finding a mysterious bunker in the middle of nowhere motif has been done and double done. Even the opening thirty minutes during which the viewer should be grabbed are a tremendous chore to sit through....

Grand Theft Auto 4 review

The free-roaming guns-and-driving formula is still there, but its come a long way. The first thing that strikes you aboutGTA IVis how many of the previous games shortcomings have been addressed. The game also gives its all to make you feel like an independent character in a huge world. It lends the people you meet and the world you inhabit a previously-missing sheen of authenticity. You are Niko Bellic, fresh off the boat from Eastern Europe....

Lee McDonald interview: Zammo, Grange Hill, Just Say No and The White House

He captivated the youth of the nation as Zammo Maguire in Grange Hill. And now he’s talking to Den Of Geek. Your mum was a chaperon onGrange Hill.Is that what got you involved, hanging around the set? The Anna Scher school did an after school workshop, and he said take Lee along. I did various work between then and about eleven. But then theGrange Hillaudition came up, and my mum said no, theres no way....

Amanda Tapping interview: Stargate SG-1, Atlantis and Sanctuary

What is it thats kept you hooked into the Stargate world all this time? I love the character. At the end of the day she is fun to play, shes interesting. The writers keep giving me new angles on her. Its never become really boring. AndStargatewas easy to stick with for ten years because it was fun. It makes it so worth it to be there. A, I had fun....

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty Xbox 360 review

Those pesky Nazis are back, and this time they’re taking on Uncle Sam. No need to trade in your copy of Call of Duty 4, though. And, yes, dear reader,Turning Point: Fall of Libertyis one such game. Its not long before you run into a Nazi trooper, kill him, and take his gun. And thats that, queue plentiful Nazi-bashing and paint-by-numbers FPS gameplay. First, the visuals. Now Im about as far from a graphics whore as you’re free to get....

Baby Pals Nintendo DS review

We’ve had virtual pets. We’ve had Nintendogs. It’s time to own a virtual baby. Blob is 10 months old, has hair like Elvis and is dressed up like a cow. He eats stewed beef, mashed apples and oat cereal and hes learning all about colours. He likes playing patty cake and loves to be tickled. He needs to be cleaned a lot and if you dont pay him any attention he starts to cry....

Commando Blu-ray review

A disappointing Blu-ray release of a classic 80s Arnie action-fest. So whats good about it? Well, its classic Arnold, and hes got more pectoral muscle mass than the average mountain gorilla. But it isnt the entirely uncut Directors Cut that appeared on DVD, sadly. Ad content continues below Whats not so great? There are no commentaries, nothing, zilch. Theyve filled up the disc by encoding it in MPEG2 rather than the more efficient VC1 codec....

Mr & Mrs Smith Blu-ray review

Fancy some Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in high definition? Then be prepared to sacrifice a chunk of the DVD’s content in the process… Guns, explosions and attractive people are the very bread and butter of the Hollywood system. If youve not seen this movie its an interesting combination of the ideas behindTrue LiesandWar of the Roses. The premise: two people locked in a loveless marriage share the same secret, theyre lethal assassins....

The Den Of Geek interview: Richard Morrison

Well it wasnt actually really invented when I started, and basically I got a lucky break. So I helped him out on one of the Bond sequences, one of the early ones. So that was my inspiration, that and Maurice Binder, and I just went off from there? Was it anything in particular from Saul Bass? All of it really,North by Northwest, all of the classic ones he did for Hitchcock....
