Footage from Suicide Squad and X-Men recently seeped out of Comic-Con.
But, Ryan asks, is it worth studios getting annoyed over such leaks?
This years Comic-Con alone saw footage ofWarcraft, Deadpool, Suicide SquadandX-Men: Apocalypseall leak online.
That this happened isnt a surprise.
What is surprising is how publically annoyed studios seem to have been by it all.
We have been unable to achieve that goal.
You dont need us to point out the grumpy tone of those words.
Leaking footage a year in advance of a movies release is not such a good thing.
The reason you dont see footage out that far is you spin up the risk of it getting stale.
Now, it should be pointed out that were not condoning piracy of any kind.
But at the same time, those statements above beg the question:What did they expect?
Its the biggest and probably most intense focus group any of us ever have.
From a studio perspective, this makes perfect sense.
If they think the outfits or casting in your film suck, then theyll soon let you know.
They want to share in their passion and love of pop culture with like-minded people.
Movie studios are lucky to have such people all assembled in one place.
Again, were not condoning piracy or suggesting that its right to upload sneakily-taken footage to the web.
