At worst, it misses the entire point ofStar Trek.

On the whole, sliding timelines are a good thing.

Its not impossible to imagine a good movie about Vulcans or Klingons in modern day America.

Again, this isnt inherently a bad thing.

A story linking our modern times to the future shown inTrekmight be inspirational.

That might be corny now, in the age of rising fascism and unabated violence.

But thats what makes it all the more potent.

But thats not whatTrekis.

But were left wondering whether this franchise will ever boldly go where no one has gone before again…
