The Game Awards has quickly become gaming’s premiere yearly event.
Here are our predictions for the games that will take the biggest awards home.
If youre interested in that information, youll have to wait for our own Game of the Year awards.
That prediction is largely based onBreath of the Wilds big night at The Game Awards 2017.
Still, precedent could still be a factor.
Its a genuinely interesting dark horse candidate.
That instance suggested that a notable enough name in this category could distinguish themselves as a breakout candidate.
All of that information leads me to believe that Sam Lake andAlan Wake 2could actually take this award home.
However, I ultimately thinkBaldurs Gate 3likely takes this award home by virtue of its likely GotY win.
Best Narrative
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
Final Fantasy XVI
This is averytough award to predict.
In fact, it might be the toughest winner to predict this year.
As such,Alan Wake 2seems like the strongest candidate here.
WithTears of the Kingdomnot in the running this year, that opens a clear path forAlan Wake 2.
Best Art Direction
Hi-Fi Rush
Lies of P
This is always such an odd category.
There are years when it seems to stealthily be the best looking game category.
Thats especially true in the recent era of the show.
With that precedent in mind, I thinkHi-Fi Rushactually upsets its bigger competitors in this instance.
The other interesting names in this category areAlan Wake 2andTears of the Kingdom.
While RemedysControldid previously win this award, I thinkAlan Wake 2s wins will come elsewhere.
However, my vote goes to a game I dont have winning any other awards:Final Fantasy 16.
Just to be clear, this is certainly not a simple sympathy vote.
Even by this franchises considerable standards,Final Fantasy 16s soundtrack is truly exceptional.
Its a stunning piece of work that gives the game so much of its energy and identity.
The boss battle themes alone may be good enough to take this award home.
Best Audio Design
Dead Space
This has long been one of The Game Awards most confusing categories.
Ultimately, I think this category will be a test of how celebrity/mainstream-obsessed The Game Awards are.
Does he deserve it?
Thats going to be tough to beat.
I dont know if weve ever seen another title in a similar situation be nominated for this particular award.
Since these are my predictions and not my personal votes, though, I thinkCyberpunk 2077grabs the win here.
Voters may be split on this one, but I suspect thatCyberpunk 2077will have enough support.
Instead, I thinkCocoongrabs the win here.
Its an exceptional experience that most certainly qualifies as an indie title.
Of course, that wonderfulWario Land-like title more than deserves to take home some gold.
Ill go withHonkai: Star Railby virtue of the buzz it has garnered, but its a real toss-up.
That said, I think that this isArmored Cores award to lose.
However, I think thatTears of the Kingdomwill still win this award one way or another.
That said,Baldurs Gate 3will win this race by a mile no matter what happens elsewhere.
This is basically a free prediction and one of the only guarantees at this years show.
Ultimately, though, I thinkStreet Fighter 6comfortably secures this win.
It will almost certainly win this award, though.
In this case, I think the heaviest of those hitters ends up snagging the win.
Even if that does happen, though, I think it will go home with this one.
Ultimately, though, I think it goes toPikmin 4.
Its an incredible entry in an amazing franchise.
Of course, this will likely come down toSuper MarioandThe Last of Us.
However, I still think that the biggest name on this list ends up taking the award home.
The hype aroundFinal Fantasy VII Rebirthcontinues to grow as we near the games 2024 release.
If that does happen, then I thinkHades 2actually takes this award.
