For those fans, the show is extremely unlikely to change their minds.

This puts more focus on the key players in particular, Elrond and Galadriel.

Episode 1, Shadow of the Past, suffers from that expositional nature in particular.

Episode 2 weaves in a bit more action while also continuing to introduce characters and cultures.
