Fox is expanding the X-Men franchise with a New Mutants movie.
That means even more mutants are on the table.
Who will show up?
Sadly, most peoples first question is, Who the hell are the New Mutants?
So, what does this upcoming film mean for the franchise?
If the former, where in the timeline will it fall?
The first and most obvious question is… when?
We know that even with the continuity reboot at the end of the film, characters ages dont change.
So, if ages can be reset, that means Sunspots age could be adjusted.
Whatever the case, though, Sunspot wouldnt be the central protagonist.
Simply put, it all comes down to Cable.
For one, theyve historically shown absolutely no hesitance to ignore canon genealogy.
If Cable isnt the lead of this movie, its likely to be Sam for the reasons mentioned above.
WOLFSBANE
Rahne Sinclair, teenage werewolf.
Another founding member and a fan favorite.
However, Dani is such a fan favorite, she might be hard to exclude.
MAGIK
Another character with slim odds.
CYPHER
Love Doug Ramsey as I do, I just dont see him making the cut.
Only two hours or so, and you really think theyre going to bother with this guy?
At least until Douglock, but… hooooo boy.
WARLOCK
Holy crap, is Warlock visually and narratively interesting!
A techno-organic alien shapeshifter?
virus goodness grants some relevance to Warlock, I just dont see him making the trip this time.
RICTOR
Julio Richter can make earthquakes.
He can MAKE EARTHQUAKES.
Leaving him out would be a huge mistake.
The suits will pass, as well they should.
My money says those characters will be held over for theX-Forcemovie.
The villain of this piece and the plot would have to go hand in hand.
Still, I doubt well see Cable before the end of this film.
And after that, who do we have?
A filler episode ofBuffy, maybe, but not anX-Menmovie.
Hell, we never saw a body and theyve resurrected characters with less deniability than that.
Either way, good times.
