At one time Sam was set to be a major part of the new Quantum Leap series.
Is Scott Bakula gonna show up?
Its not as if Bakula has avoided more modern throwbacks to the original series.
Bakula clearly has affection for the role, so why hasnt he appeared in the new series?
Its not for lack of trying.
Sam is in it!
After the script takes a moment to actually write out in the description, Holy shit!
Sam goes on to say,
I just wish he was here to see through to the end.
And there the scene ends.
Maybe they could have done that without having Sam appear again but its doubtful.
It excites the mind of anyQuantum Leapfan.
How would Sam have played into the mythology of the new series?
How would this have tied back to the original series?
Well more than likely never know.
But was this actually shot?
Did Scott Bakula ever read it?
It looks like it.
While we dont know for sure why he said no to it, there are a few distinct possibilities.
He may have just not had the bandwidth to handle also being onQuantum Leapat that time.
He may have read the small cameo and decided it just wasnt for him.
Maybe its not how he would have wanted to officially return to the role of Sam.
Or perhaps he just wasnt offered enough money.
Whatever the case, theres still no sign that Bakula has any plans to return toQuantum Leap.
At least we know that Sam is still out there leaping and helping people.
