Who is The Rings of Power’s mysterious leader of the orcs?
We have no idea and that’s a good thing.
ThisLord of the Ringsarticle contains spoilers forThe Rings of Power.
(Though Im admittedly partial to the theory hell actually turn out to bethe Witch-King of Angmarone day.)
His name is Adar.
Orcs chant his name and everyone seems to be talking about what a badass he is.
Where is he from?
Is Adar his actual name or some kind of titleand is it covering for a name wed otherwise recognize?
What is he doing at the head of what is essentially an orc army?
And what is he after, really?
What, precisely, we have no idea.
Could it be a weapon of some kind?
Or even possibly a person?
(Remember, a magical mandidjustfall out of the sky last week.)
Almost anything seems possible, and thats part of what makes this subplot fun.
As fun as it is to point out connections to other stories and characters withinJ.R.R.
Tolkiens universe,The Rings of Poweronly truly works if its telling us a story we havent seen before.
