This review contains spoilers forThe Lord of the Rings: The rings of Powerseason 2 episode 8.
There are some epic scenes and beautiful moments in here, along with some slightly wobblier ones.
The other particularly effective scene is poor old Celebrimbors swan song.
Charles Edwards has put in a brilliant performance as Celebrimbor this season.
Tolkien derived the name Gandalf from the real-worldElder Edda, a collection of poems written in Old Norse.
Its also the name of a 9thcentury king of southern Sweden and southern Norway.
But Tolkien was very protective of his languages!
Galadriels (Morfydd Clark) scenes in this episode are more of a mixed bag.
The rest of Galadriels story, however, is not so good.
She is also apparently almost indestructible, judging by the fall she survives.
Other characters stories have also been a little patchy, but most resolve in a fairly satisfying way.
The writers even managed to make his beloved horse Beric key to his closing scenes!
But then the episode goes on a bit more.
But that scene with Gandalf and Bombadil was just perfect.
Ultimately, the show usually shines the most when it gets back to Tolkiens words and Tolkiens themes.
